A tender moment is embellished by the ocean and the emblematic sight of Diamond Head through this painting. Diamond Head is a volcanic cone also known as Lae 'ahi (tuna forehead), a name given by the Hawaiians because of it's resemblance with the tuna fish. The crater is 1070 meters in diameter and has an elevation of 230 meters, it's a green and beautiful silhouette that makes the Waikiki scenery a must. In the 19th century it was given the name Diamond Head by the British sailors after looking at the sparkling calcite crystals thinking these were diamonds in the crater. The British name remained and today Diamond Head is one of the best known landmarks in the southeast coast of O'ahu.
